Photograph the World Famous Pacific Rim National Park and Tofino on Vancouver Island
Join me, professional landscape photographer Andrew Collett for a truly unique photography adventure to Tofino and the Pacific Rim National Park on Vancouver Island. I have been planning this workshop for over a year and have made several visits to this awe inspiring location. No where else have I experienced such diversity in nature. From lush rain forest to the wild wind swept beaches of the Pacific Rim National park this place has it all (not to mention the mountains, eagles, bears, whales and of course the quaint and eclectic village of Tofino).
Who Should Attend?
The workshop is open to anyone with a love of nature photography and who is looking to improve their skills. All skills levels are welcome however you will benefit most from the workshop if you are shooting with a digital SLR camera. Since I keep my groups small (8 people) I am able to spend as much time as needed with each individual to ensure they improve their photography in the areas that are most important to them.
During our workshop you will learn...
Camera Craft & Technique
Image Quality – Learn to consistently take perfectly exposed, tack sharp images. Learn why it is critical to “get it right” in camera first rather than relying on post production to correct errors.
Perspective & Lens Choice –Wide angle or telephoto? Learn the creative impact that lens choice has on your photographs and how to find fresh viewpoints and open up creative doors by learning to see how your lens sees.
Composition & Light
Composition and Subject Selection– Learn advanced creative techniques for composing your photographs and “artistically” placing your subject.
Light – The most important ingredient. Learn how to use natural light to inject drama, enhance colours, and create a sense of “mood” in your photographs.
Digital Image Processing
Learn the digital workflow. I will be teaching all the steps I use to process digital RAW files to prepare them for web and print.
Photo and Print Critiques
Each day I will spend some time reviewing and critiquing your photographs. If you are currently making your own prints please bring examples of a few that you are really proud of so that I can get a basic understanding of your current level of expertise.
Accommodation
I have secured accommodation for the workshop at the Ocean Village Beach Resort. Located directly on MacKenzie Beach at the northern edge of the Pacific Rim National Park they provide quality accommodation with easy access all that the area has to offer. Our special workshop rate is $135.00 per night plus tax, you are responsible for securing your room with a credit card so when you contact them please ask for the Andrew Collett Workshop rate.
Limited Participation
I am limiting the size of the workshop to 8 participants. This will ensure that I can spend maximum time with everyone. I would suggest that you register as soon as you can confirm your availability as this workshop will sell out quickly!
Cost
The cost for the workshop is broken down into two separate parts, lodging and the photography instruction.
WORKSHOP COST - The photography portion of the workshop is $850.00 per person plus GST. This is payable to me directly and can be done when you register through my web site (see Pay Pal Button at the top of the page) or by contacting me to make arrangements. As space is limited to 8 participants I will require a $300.00 deposit at time of registration with the balance payable prior to 60 days before the start of the workshop.
LODGING COST - Ocean Village Beach Resort rates are very reasonable and I have arranged a special price for our group of $135.00/night A block of rooms have been set aside for the workshop however YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for securing your room reservation. Once you have confirmed your spot in the workshop with me I advise that you also confirm your room reservation. Please note that lodging costs do not include meals.

Student Comments
I wanted to thank you for your instruction and support throughout the workshop. You are an inspiring teacher. I came away with more than some beautiful images that I couldn’t have made before - I have clearer knowledge of photographic discipline and overall workflow that I can apply to all of my photography. I am truly taking better photographs as a result!

Hi Andrew, I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed your workshop, not only was it enjoyable but also extremely educational. I know I will do better work because of it. Thank you for sharing your talent. I will be booking another workshop with you when this one has fully settled into my photography.
